6/25/2023 0 Comments Mercari buyer with no reviews![]() This seems to be a scam, as the buyer messages me notifying that the package is open and missing item. I reviewed UPS to file a claim, but it has to be the buyer who submits photos so they can track weight change. The user is now claiming a return, which will grant him his money back without any proper investigation. However, if the item was reported missing it cannot be returned. The buyer filed a return for the missing item, and Mercari approved. ![]() I asked him to file a report with UPS, which he did not, and I notified Mercari. The buyer stated that the package was received opened and only containing my thank you note, but no watch. The item was carefully packed and shipped on 5/1 via UPS. I sold an antique Gucci Watch on for $220. Siding with scammers - missing items scam ![]() Don't even bother with Mercari - use the other platforms. Customer Support appears to be awful for most people on both the seller and buyer side. After asking support to compare photos, they said their decision isn't changing and they will not show the buyer-submitted photos for me to prove the inconsistencies. I alerted Mercari to this issue and they basically said "sorry we can't prove it." I tried to look at the buyer-submitted photos again, but Mercari only allows sellers to view return request photos for 24 hours. When I received the item back, there was not a smudge like the buyer showed in the photos, but they had pulled the fabric and the tag was went in half. When the buyer received the item, they requested a return for item damaged, and showed photos of a blemish on the front of the sweater that was hardly visible in their photos - it looked like dust. ![]() This week, a buyer requested to cancel after I had dropped the package off, so I knew it probably wouldn't end well. Moving forward, I started shipped in boxes instead of bags, so that tags wouldn't be damaged in transit. Mercari approved the return and told me to package my items better. My first return request, the buyer said the item was damaged in transit, with photos of the tag slightly bent. However, the two return requests I have received have made me never want to use Mercari again. I have been a seller on Mercari for several years with many successful sales.
